Chinese New Year celebration

If u ask me whether i prefer last year's celebration or this year celebration, i would prefer this year's Chinese New Year celebration. Last year we just sat in the house all day although we went back Kota Bahru. It was quite a boring celebration. But this year, we begged our parents and our aunt to bring us go visiting around Temangan. So they agreed. On the new year eve night, We had a reunion dinner in a hotel. It was loaded with people. Even the indians and the malays join in the celebration. We had a lion dance performance and a karaoke session. My uncle voluntered himself to sing on the stage, but unfortunately he forgot the lyrics so i went up and help him out, with shaking knees. On the first day of Chinese New Year, we had our breakfast. Then we started our journey from KB around twelve. Actually we planned on starting around ten o clock, but as my father's car had a slight problem with the starter, it took around an hour for the mechanic to come and fix it. So we delayed our plan till twleve noon. Before we proceed to Temangan, we went to a chinese village as some of my aunt's cousin are having open house. It was my frist experience in a chinese village. My frist impression when i first saw the village was cool and relaxing. It was a good place to resat and relax your mind, unlike Kuala Lumpur which is a big and busy city day and night. We had Nasi Lauk and we had a tour around the house. The house was quite modern. I was suprised as i expected a kampung house, but it was a good place to stay. We went to another house just nearby the first house. This house is more kampung lik eand we had the sweetest Nasi Dagang and had some Nasi Kerabu. Can be said we had a full course meal of all the Nasi we had in Kelantan. But it was fun, we ate till we were bloated. But what i am really facinated is their way of talking. They are pure Chinese but the language they speak are chi-malay.As they grow among the malays, it's not suprising that they speak malay so fluently. After spending an hour in the chinese village, we headed to Temangan. It took us an hour to reach there. Temangan is my second Kelatan hometown. My grandfather use to have a coffee shop here. He sells coffee, ice-cream, cupcakes and all kinds of things. But what i like the most is his cupcakes. But too bad when he was alive, nobody wanted to learn and get the recipe from him, now that he is gone, my father, my uncle and my aunt has tried countless times to get the recipe but al last no vain. Last time when my grandparents are around, we would go back early to have the whole coffee shop cleaned up for the chinese new year. We would also stay up late to watch tv in the living room, drinking soft drinks without mum lecturing beside us. Then we would send food and gifts to friends around the neighbourhood and even have a open house during the first day of chinese new year. But ever since my grandparents have gone to a better place, Chinese New Year celebration has changed a lot. We wouldn't go back more often and we do not celebrate chinese new year like the way we do it during the old days. But this year it has changed a lot. Once we went back to Temangan, the first house we visited was my second aunt's house, we call her 'mai ju". She was so suprised in seeing us back in Temangan. We were happy to see her too. We visited our neighbour as well, also as known as my first 'lover' Jian Wen. Jian Wen is my childhood 'boyfriend'. We always hang out together when we were kids. We were very close back then. Then we seldom do back to Temangan and that'[s when our relationship gone further and further. But i met him for the first time in this few years and i admit i was shy seeing him, and i can see that he was shy seeing me as well. But we still manage to exchange phone numbers for future contact. We also went to my father's classmate's open house and that was his first time being crazy in this few weeks. I have seen him being stress so is good seeing him enjoying himself for that day. We stayed in Temangan untill dark then we started our journey back to KB. It was a scary drive as my father was partly drunk but we still made it back safely. The second day was total rest for us. My parents went visiting around KB whiel i stayed home doing my Girl Guide Folio. While my brother was sleeping the whole day. You should have seen hime sleeping, it was seriously disgusting!!!!!! We came back the third day and rest the whole day. I can say that this year celebration means a lot to me. I learned more things and i was able to meet up my memories of my childhood in Temangan. Once again Happy Chinese New Year to all!!!

Happy Chinese New Year

Is been quite a while since i last updated my blog. Well is already february for the year 2008. Time is really going past real fast. I think is because we have too many things to do in life. On the 1st of february, Arul invited all of us to Midvalley for a treat and to celebrate her success in the BAKP camp. We went for a movie and i did the most embressing thing.... I cried!! hehe.. Well i can't help it, the show is worth crying. Well we had McD together and we sat and talk and had fun. Anyway, Chinese New Year is just around the corner, and i am really looking forword in going back my hometown for two reasons, Family reunion and ang pow!! Well is not suprising as all teenagers are crazy for money. As the holiday is a quite a short one, we only have a few days to spend in my hometown. But is better than nothing. I think this year my family's chinese new year celebration will be a quiet one. As four of my grandparents are in a better place, so it's not that fun having CNY celebration without them. But we still celebrate it and appreiciate the prescene of our love ones.
